We are happy to teach any of our project-based classes to your specific group. We can customize most of these projects to accommodate the length of course you are interested in. Some popular options include:

How it works:

Choose a project:

Hammerstone has a variety of custom workshops already developed.  They cover different skills, have different take-home projects, and last different amounts of time.  If you would like a specific project custom-designed for your group event, contact admin@hammerstoneschool.com (additional fees may apply). 

Find a date:

Hammerstone has classes scheduled many weekends in the summer.  Check the calendar to see if there are any free dates that would suit your group.  Then contact admin@hammerstoneschool.com to confirm the availability of a date and to schedule your course.

Reserve your course with a deposit:

All group courses are reserved with a non-refundable 50% deposit.  The remainder of the course fee is due three weeks before the course date.  Our standard cancellation policies apply (read the “Cancellation and Rescheduling” tab on our FAQ page).

Show up for the fun and learning:

Most classes are taught at Hammerstone’s facilities in Trumansburg, NY.  We also teach in a heated barn in winter, and may come to your location for an additional fee.

FAQ

  • Tuition: Course tuition is calculated using a daily rate per student with a minimum price set at the cost for 8 students. You may attend with fewer students, but the fee will be the same as for 8 students. Our daily rates change yearly and will be provided upon request.

    Materials Fees: In addition to tuition, most courses include a materials fee. Materials costs are dependent on the project. Details will be provided upon request.

    Lunches: Lunches are available for an additional cost. You may choose to order lunches for some participants, all participants, or none at all. Lunch prices change yearly and will be provided upon request.

    Design costs: The project courses listed above require no additional design. If you choose a custom project for a course, Hammerstone charges an hourly design fee.

  • Our workshops typically run from 9-5 with a morning break for snacks, and a 1-hour lunch. Depending on the project, workshops last 1, 2, or more days.

  • While regularly scheduled Hammerstone courses are only open to women, non-binary people, and trans men, custom workshops have no restrictions based on gender.

    Like all regularly scheduled courses, custom workshops are open to students 18 and older. Custom workshops for younger students may be arranged on a case by case basis.

  • No. Most of Hammerstone’s classes are designed for people with no carpentry experience at all. We have years of experience introducing brand new students to carpentry skills and theory. Even students with no experience will leave our custom workshops comfortable using both hand and power tools.

  • All our classes are different so the specific skills learned will vary. See the course syllabi for individual courses for a list of learning objectives. In every class we cover general and specific tool and job-site safety in depth.

  • Our 3-season teaching facility is at 3285 Jacksonville Rd., Trumansburg, NY 14886. In winter, we teach in a heated shop nearby.
